EDGARTOWN, MA — May 23rd — Firefighters from the Auburn Fire Department trained with Candia Fire Rescue during a car extrication drill to enhance rescue operations and coordination of mutual aid. Crews employed a range of tools and methods to cut and stabilize cars in order to replicate the rescue of a trapped victim. The training focused on skills often needed following significant auto accidents and gave firefighters the opportunity to work together in real-world situations.

Since Auburn and Candia employees frequently respond to collisions along Route 101 together, joint training is an essential part of emergency preparedness. Department officials claim that the exercise improved communication, teamwork, and operational preparedness, allowing both agencies to better serve their citizens in disaster situations.
