This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

On June 3, members of the Mashpee Fire Department's Group 4 responded to an uncommon rescue involving multiple newborn turkeys stuck in a storm drain.

After the juvenile birds fell down the drain, firefighters attempted to securely retrieve them. All of the poults were saved unharmed and without any indications of discomfort, according to officials. After being set free, they were reunited with their mother and the other siblings who had stayed close by.

The department advised locals to keep an eye out for any worried parent animals nearby, pointing out that occurrences involving small animals in storm drains are frequent around this time of year.
