On June 5, the Barnstable Fire Department paid tribute to Firefighter/EMT Ronald J. Beals Jr. on the 30th anniversary of his death while performing his duties.
Beals, 34, passed away on June 5, 1996, as a result of contracting a communicable illness while working in the community. His contribution continues to serve as an example of the risks firemen and EMS professionals face in defending others, department members noted, reflecting on his commitment, compassion, and professionalism.
