Duckling Reunited With Family After Rescue Effort

On June 7, just before 9 p.m., firefighters from the Gales Ferry Volunteer Fire Company responded to an unusual rescue assignment involving a distressed duckling in the vicinity of Military Highway and Mill Cove Road.


The baby bird became caught after falling between a retaining wall and a rock embankment next to a bridge, according to two pedestrians.


The duckling was able to reunite with its family after being set free. During the rescue effort, no injuries were reported.
