GILCHRIST COUNTY, FL — May 23rd — The HCA AirLife flight crew received training at the Gilchrist County Emergency Operations Center alongside Gilchrist County Fire Rescue personnel. Helicopter safety, landing zone operations, patient loading protocols, and coordination during medical emergencies were all covered in the practical session. Additionally, the training focused on HCA AirLife's new local air medical base, which is anticipated to enhance Gilchrist County and surrounding areas' access to cutting-edge treatment.
Transport times for critically ill or injured patients can be shortened with the use of a nearby air medical resource. According to department officials, the drill improved coordination, communication, and readiness between aircraft crews and ground responders, facilitating efficient emergency care across the region.
