Crestview Firefighters Represent U.S. at FireFit Belgium Competition

Members of the Crestview Fire Department flew to Europe on May 6th to represent the United States against teams from all around the continent in the FireFit Belgium competition.


According to officials, the FireFit event put firefighters through a number of physically taxing tasks, such as a victim drag, hose hoist, Kaiser sled, charged hose pull, and four-story stair climb with a hose pack. The sole American department participating in the competition was Crestview.


With a time of 1:58, firefighter Carl Day finished 12th out of 42 competitors in the solo class. With a time of 1:59, the department's tandem pair placed 15th out of 34 teams. Team “Boyz in the View” advanced to the quarterfinals and recorded its fastest time of 1:39, while “Boyz in the View JV” finished qualifying rounds with a time of 2:21.
