FREEHOLD, N.J. — May 28th — Recently, members of the Freehold Fire Department (Station 15) finished two training exercises that included water supply and engine company operations. On a Thursday night, firefighters rehearsed relay pumping and switching from tank water to a hydrant supply as all three department engines deployed handlines with new nozzles.
Engine 1575 participated in a pipeline drill with a number other Western Monmouth fire units the next morning. Moving massive amounts of water from a hydrant to a fire scene that is outside the reach of typical hose stretches was the main goal of the simulation. Key firefighting techniques were reaffirmed throughout the training, which also highlighted how crucial it is to have a steady supply of water for emergency operations.
