WASSAIC, N.Y. — May 16th — Firefighters from the Amenia and Millerton fire departments participated in a rope rescue training session with fourteen members of Wassaic Fire Rescue, also referred to as "The Blue Crew." The exercise concentrated on techniques used in rescues in hard-to-reach places, such as elevation and steep terrain. To increase operational readiness, crews trained rope systems, rescue methods, and collaboration.
To guarantee safe and efficient replies, rope rescue operations require specific training and frequent practice. Coordination between adjacent departments that might collaborate in an emergency is also strengthened by joint training exercises. According to officials, the training assisted firemen in preserving critical rescue techniques and getting ready for a range of situations around the area.
