The Fredonia Fire Department commemorated Probationary Firefighter Rion Martin's graduation from the New York State Recruit Firefighter Training program on May 22.

Martin successfully finished 15 weeks of rigorous training intended to prepare new firefighters for emergency response operations and the responsibilities of the fire service, according to officials. The curriculum teaches rescue operations, safety protocols, firefighting methods, and other critical skills.

Martin was congratulated on attaining the milestone by Chief Myers and other department members, who also praised his hard work, devotion, and commitment to community service.
