Cayuga Firefighters Attend Lithium-Ion Battery Fire Training

Members of the Cayuga Fire Department participated in a demonstration of lithium-ion battery fire suppression at the Cayuga County Training Tower on May 27.


Firefighters Steve Orchard and Jeff Day attended the training session, which was sponsored by FCL-X and DiVal Safety Equipment, according to officials. The demonstration concentrated on safety issues, fire suppression methods, and reaction plans for situations involving lithium-ion batteries.


The training was also attended by representatives from Cayuga County Emergency Management and the fire departments of Auburn, Genoa, Port Byron, and Sennett. The presenters were commended by department officials for offering insightful information on an increasingly pressing fire service issue.
