International Firefighters’ Day Observed in Old Town

OLD TOWN, ME — May 4th — Department Old Town Fire Rescue observed International Firefighters' Day and honored the contributions of firefighters who serve their communities alongside fire departments worldwide. The yearly celebration honors the efforts of professional and volunteer firefighters who respond to crises, offer medical support, and assist with public safety initiatives all year long.


Additionally, the department made time to honor firefighters who lost their lives while performing their duties and to acknowledge their enduring influence on the fire service. Every year on May 4th, tributes and community appreciation events are held to commemorate International Firefighters' Day. The event served as a reminder of the commitment, training, and hard work that firefighters do on a daily basis to safeguard people and property.
