Fire Service Community Remembers Andrew Cross

NEWBURGH, ME — May 15th — Following the line-of-duty death of Firefighter Andrew Cross of the Morrill Volunteer Fire Department, Department Newburgh Fire and Rescue joined firefighters throughout Maine in honoring his service. The emergency services community, whose agencies frequently collaborate through regional partnerships and mutual help, was affected by the loss. Members of the Morrill Volunteer Fire Department, the Cross family, and everyone impacted by the incident received support from firefighters from all over the state.


The dangers firefighters encounter while defending their communities are brought to light by line-of-duty deaths. Department representatives emphasized the value of encouraging other responders and paying tribute to individuals who commit themselves to public service.
