Merrimack Fire Rescue Hosts Hands-Only CPR Training for NH CPR Challenge

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Merrimack, NH - Merrimack Fire Rescue recently hosted a “Hands-Only” community CPR training as part of the New Hampshire CPR Challenge.

This statewide, bipartisan initiative—led by New Hampshire’s five Executive Councilors—aimed to train as many Granite State residents as possible in Hands-Only CPR during EMS Week 2026 (May 17–23).

The mission is simple but critical: give every resident the confidence to act in the event of a cardiac arrest. With every passing minute without CPR, survival rates drop by 7–10%. Immediate bystander CPR can double or even triple a person’s chance of survival.

By empowering the community with lifesaving skills, Merrimack Fire Rescue continues to make a lasting impact when it matters most.
