LEMPSTER, N.H. — May 4th — In honor of International Firefighters' Day, the Lempster Fire Department expressed gratitude to emergency personnel and firefighters for their ongoing support of communities throughout New Hampshire and beyond. The department, which is located at 929 Route 10 in Lempster, joined fire service organizations throughout the world in commemorating the annual May 4th event, which honors the commitment and selflessness of volunteer and career firefighters. Additionally, the day honors firemen who have lost their lives while performing their duties.
In rural towns, volunteer departments rely mainly on volunteers who manage emergency response while juggling employment, family, and continuing training obligations, according to officials. In order to sustain staffing and operational readiness, fire service organizations continue to emphasize the significance of public assistance.
