LEVANT, Maine — May 5th — FF-EMT Danica Brown received recognition from Levant Fire & Rescue for finishing the department's one-year beginning firefighting program. The program trains new firefighters in department operations, safety protocols, emergency medical response, apparatus operations, and fire suppression. According to officials, the practical training helps members get ready for the duties of emergency response in rural areas.

According to Levant Fire & Rescue, which is situated at 3917 Union St. in Levant, continuing firefighter training is still crucial for preserving operational preparedness and assisting with volunteer recruiting and retention initiatives. Before moving on to further qualifications and specialized training, Maine fire departments frequently use introductory programs to help new members gain experience. Brown received congratulations from department members for finishing the program and staying on staff.
