At a ceremony at St. John's University on May 27, the City of New York Fire Department promoted personnel to various leadership and operational ranks.
FDNY Chief of Department John Esposito addressed the newly promoted members, emphasizing that leadership within the department holds the obligation of ensuring firemen and workers are prepared for crises and safely return home after every tour.
Members were elevated to the positions of Deputy Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief, Battalion Chief, Captain, Lieutenant, Fire Marshal, Marine Wiper, and Marine Pilot, according to officials. The promotions honor years of service, leadership within the department, operational experience, and training. Units across New York City will now be assigned to the recently promoted personnel.
