FDNY Honors Fallen Military Veterans at Fire Academy Ceremony

The City of New York Fire Department came together at the Fire Academy on May 21st to pay tribute to department members who gave their lives while serving in the US military.


The names of FDNY members who passed away while serving in the armed forces were read during the service, according to officials. The department also read the names of FDNY military members who lost their lives while performing their duties during the attacks in honor of the approaching 25th anniversary of September 11th.


In honor of deceased firefighter and Army National Guard Staff Sergeant Christian Engeldrum, who was murdered while deployed to Iraq in November 2004, a memorial service was held at VFW Post 12033.
