Six FDNY EMS Members Recognized at Albany Dedication

The City of New York Fire Department sent representatives to the 2026 New York State EMS Memorial Dedication Ceremony in Albany on May 19th in remembrance of the state's slain EMS personnel.


Six FDNY EMS personnel, including paramedic Salih Abdur-Rahman, who passed away in the line of duty in October 2025, were honored during the ceremony, according to officials. Five more FDNY EMS men who were recognized passed away from illnesses linked to exposure to the World Trade Center.


Together with other EMS workers who gave their lives in defense of their communities, their names were added to the state's "Tree of Life" memorial. According to department officials, the event recognized the bravery, empathy, and commitment displayed by EMS professionals across the state of New York.
