CLARENDON, VT. — April 28 — Clarendon Fire Association members learned about a new water source and tanker fill site while participating in drafting and truck-to-truck water supply training. Effective setup techniques, equipment placement, and ensuring constant water flow between trucks during rural fire operations were the key topics of the training. Drafting drills continue to be a crucial component of preparing firefighters for disasters in locations with restricted or nonexistent hydrant access, according to fire authorities.

Water shuttle and drafting drills are routinely carried out by departments throughout Vermont to enhance cooperation between tanker and engine crews for large-scale emergencies and structural fires. According to officials, training at new fill sites also helps firemen enhance their operational preparedness and cut down on setup times for extended fireground operations and mutual assistance crises.
