Fort Fairfield Fire Rescue Promotes CPR Awareness in Schools

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

FORT FAIRFIELD, ME — May 12 — In order to educate kids about emergency medical services and the significance of performing CPR as soon as possible during cardiac emergencies, members of the Fort Fairfield Fire Rescue visited nearby classrooms. Responders showed equipment frequently used during EMS calls and talked on how prompt action by onlookers might enhance patient outcomes. According to fire officials, teaching youth emergency response and CPR raises community awareness and promotes future participation in public safety initiatives.

Local educators Mrs. Morin and Mrs. Towle were also honored by department members for their support of the event and for teaching kids about jobs in emergency services and how to save lives. As fire and EMS departments strive to improve community readiness and public safety education, similar outreach initiatives are still in place throughout Maine.
