FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — May 11 — A Crisis Management for School Based Incidents training event was held in Caribou by the Fort Fairfield Fire Rescue in collaboration with RSU39 and the Maine School Safety Center. 38 people attended the one-day seminar, including employees of the Emergency Management Agency, firefighters, law enforcement, and school administrators. All-hazard incident response, emergency planning, coordination, and communication during school-related emergencies were the main topics of training.

Regional training programs, according to officials, increase disaster preparedness efforts throughout northern Maine and enhance collaboration between public safety agencies and schools. As school districts and emergency services groups collaborate to enhance response protocols and preparedness for a variety of crises affecting children, staff, and community buildings, similar seminars are still held around the state.
