Providence Fire Department Marks National Firefighters Day

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — May 4th — While celebrating National Firefighters Day, the Providence Fire Department welcomed a new class of recruits who were getting ready to start their careers in the fire service. The department, which has its headquarters at 325 Washington St., emphasized the dedication, cooperation, and training needed by firemen working in the capital city of Rhode Island.
According to officials, the recruits will start training in public safety protocols, rescue techniques, emergency medical response, and firefighting operations. Every year, National Firefighters Day is held to honor firefighters nationwide for their service and preparedness in times of need. Members of the department also expressed gratitude to the firemen who are currently serving the city and wished the incoming recruits well as they start their training and make the transfer into the field.
