Warwick, R.I. — June 14 — at assist firefighters fighting a working structure fire, the Special Signal Fire Association/Providence Canteen moved Canteen 1 at 27 Audubon Lane in Coventry. Throughout the event, the unit gave fire and emergency medical staff hydration, refreshments, and rehabilitation services. In addition to lessening the effects of heat, exhaustion, and dehydration during prolonged operations, fireground rehabilitation assisted responders in recuperating in between assignments.

In order to ensure that firefighters had the resources necessary to safely conduct emergency operations until the crisis was under control and all responding units were back in service, the response illustrated the critical role specialist canteen units play in supporting frontline crews.
