Fall River, MA - Fall River firefighter recruits completed their first live burn evolution, gaining hands-on experience in high heat and low visibility conditions.
During the training, firefighters demonstrated a “hook and look” search technique, maintaining orientation at the doorway while quickly checking a room for victims by sight and touch. Once cleared, the door was closed to contain fire conditions and limit heat and smoke spread.
The evolution emphasized essential fireground skills, including search tactics, situational awareness, and fire containment ahead of hoseline advancement.
