Fire, EMS and Police Worked Together at Bicycle Incident

Amherst, Mass. — June 14 — In the afternoon, the Amherst Massachusetts Fire Department was called to a bicycle collision on South East Street. After assessing the wounded rider, paramedics concluded that air medical transport would be beneficial for the patient. Firefighters called for a LifeStar helicopter and took the patient via ambulance to a landing zone at Amherst Regional High School, where the flight crew took over the patient's treatment.


During the response, the Amherst Police Department helped with scene safety and traffic control. In order to give the injured patient prompt care and safe transportation, the incident showed excellent coordination between fire, EMS, law enforcement, and air medical professionals.
