Woonsocket Hazmat Team Completes Flaring Refresher Training

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — 18th May — Members of the hazardous materials response team from the Department Woonsocket, RI Firefighters participated in refresher training focused on flaring operations for flammable liquid and gas emergencies. The training was hosted by Jeremy’s Propane Inc. and included personnel from Smithfield Firefighters IAFF Local 2050, Central Falls Fire Department, and East Burrillville Fire Department.


Crews reviewed equipment setup, safety procedures, and coordinated response operations used during propane and fuel-related incidents. Flaring is a controlled method used to safely burn off flammable gases during hazardous materials emergencies. According to department officials, the training kept responders ready for specific hazardous situations involving industrial fuels and gas infrastructure throughout northern Rhode Island while also strengthening regional cooperation.
