WESTERLY, R.I. — 14th May — The Department Westerly Fire Department recognized several members for years of volunteer service during a recent department meeting at headquarters on Union Street. Retired Assistant Chief Tom Keena was honored for 70 years of service, while Assistant Chief (Ret.) Bob Long was recognized for 60 years serving the community. Lt. J. Izzi received a years-of-service pin marking 10 years with the department.

Although he was unable to attend, Firefighter P. Grube also surpassed the 10-year milestone. Founded in 1834, the Westerly Fire Department remains one of Rhode Island’s oldest volunteer departments and continues to provide fire suppression, rescue, and emergency response services. The commendation ceremony, according to department officials, was a reflection of the organization's long history of volunteerism.
