Port Washington EMS Crew Revives Cardiac Arrest Patient

PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. — 23rd April — A patient with chest trouble was brought to the Helen Keller National Center by the Port Washington Fire Department, which is situated at 423 Port Washington Blvd. in Port Washington, NY, USA, 11050. Due to the patient's deafness and blindness, EMS personnel had to overcome communication difficulties after locating the distressed patient within a residential room. The patient fell into cardiac arrest and stopped responding shortly after treatment started.


Before administering a defibrillation shock, fire department EMS professionals promptly began CPR, connected a heart monitor, and detected ventricular fibrillation. After workers detected signs of a massive heart attack and worked with hospital officials to coordinate advanced cardiac treatment, the patient regained a pulse and was taken to St. Francis Hospital.
