SEAFORD, N.Y. — 4th May — Ex-Chief Fred Roth was recently recognized by Seaford Fire Department members for his 78 years of service to the department and community. Roth began working for the agency in 1948 and rose through the ranks until becoming Chief of agency in 1964. Additionally, he spent many years serving as the Seaford Fire District's Fire Commissioner, assisting with departmental operations and neighborhood fire safety initiatives.

According to department officials, Roth is still the department historian and a valuable resource for information regarding the history of the Seaford community and the fire department. According to officials, generations of firemen in the department are still impacted by his dedication, leadership, and expertise.
