Members of the Selden Fire Department won first place on April 25th in the Escape Bus Challenge, a scenario-based EMS competition with participants from all across the area, held at Mather Hospital.

EMS personnel Olivia Fasano, Amir Alexander, Layelle Khatoun, and Sena Akkaya participated in an escape room-style competition, according to officials, which was intended to assess emergency medical knowledge, critical thinking, teamwork, and decision-making under duress.

With one minute and sixteen seconds left, the Selden team finished the challenge, setting the competition's fastest time and winning first place. Department officials said events like the challenge help reinforce the importance of continuous EMS training and preparedness while highlighting the dedication of volunteer providers serving the community.
