Commack Fire Department probationary personnel took part in specialized training on flashover awareness and SCBA confidence drills on April 27.

Firefighters were exposed to actual fire behavior, heat temperatures, and warning indications associated with quickly changing fireground situations during the flashover simulation, according to officials. Additionally, members participated in self-contained breathing apparatus confidence exercises that pushed them to rely on their training and equipment while operating in low visibility.
