The Bohemia Fire Department took part in the Northport Fire Department's 19th Annual Chuck Varese Extrication Tournament for the first time on May 11.

According to officials, personnel participated in a timed vehicle extrication competition with nearby departments in order to improve cooperation, teamwork, and rescue abilities. In addition to giving firefighters practical rescue training in a competitive environment, the event promoted a humanitarian cause.

All competitors were praised by the department for their professional and committed representation of Bohemia during the competition.
