Multi-Agency Mock DWI Drill Highlights Real Consequences of Impaired Driving

Genoa, NY - Genoa Engine 2 and members of the Genoa Volunteer Fire Department participated in a mock DWI drill held with Battalion 5 fire departments at Southern Cayuga Central School. The simulation recreated a realistic motor vehicle crash scenario involving an impaired driver, providing valuable training for all responding agencies.


Fire crews worked alongside Southern Cayuga Instant Aid, Inc., Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, and LifeNet of New York, creating a highly coordinated and realistic emergency response environment. Firefighters practiced extrication and rescue operations while law enforcement and EMS supported scene management and patient care.


The demonstration emphasized the serious consequences of impaired driving, particularly during prom and graduation season.
