This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Members of the Huntingdon Regional Fire and Rescue and neighboring agencies formally finished their Essentials of Firefighting training on May 17.

For representing the department during the training program, officials honored Allyse G., Nash H., Ibraham A., Shane M., Ethan G., Nickolas N., and Garrett R. Five members of the department completed more than 130 hours of instruction while enrolled full-time in college, and several of them also managed to juggle work obligations, according to the department.

One member went from Pittsburgh to attend every lesson, while the other four are Juniata College students. The group's devotion to furthering their fire service education was commended by officials.

Over the next two weeks, the firemen will continue their training in order to get their Firefighter 1 certification.
