Wildland Fire Skills Strengthened Through Hands-On Forestry Training

Alna, ME - Alna Volunteer Fire Department members took part in focused forestry fire training designed to enhance operational readiness in wooded and rural environments.


Crews worked with hand lines deployed from Forestry Truck 4, while also utilizing portable pump systems to establish a direct water source.


The training emphasized essential wildland suppression techniques, including water supply setup, line construction, and coordinated hose deployment in areas where access and terrain can significantly impact fire behavior and response tactics.


These hands-on evolutions are critical for Alna’s volunteer firefighters, reinforcing the skills needed to effectively protect wooded areas, open fields, and rural properties throughout the community.


The session further strengthened team coordination and overall preparedness for wildland fire operations.
