FARMERSVILLE STATION, NY — May 4th — Along with the fire departments of Machias, Franklinville, and Lyndonville, members of the Farmersville Fire Department took part in a District 2 training session. Using a smoke machine to replicate low visibility conditions sometimes found during structure fires, the evening drill concentrated on inside fire operations. Within the training area, firefighters rehearsed coordinated movement, communication, and search procedures.
In order to obtain more practical experience with fireground operations and collaboration, junior firefighters also participated in supervised drills. Coordination of mutual aid and readiness for emergencies across the region are still being enhanced via joint training sessions between adjacent departments. Maintaining firefighter safety and operational preparedness during structure fire responses continues to depend heavily on interior operations training.
