The third week of the Bristol Borough Fire Department's Junior Officer Development Program, which focuses on constructing fire protection systems, began on April 27.

Fire alarm systems, automated sprinkler systems, fire pumps, standpipe systems, commercial kitchen suppression systems, and specific hazard suppression systems were all covered in the session, according to officials. In the classroom, students learned about fireground applications, operational considerations, and system components.

Afterwards, participants underwent practical instruction and site visits at two nearby facilities, where they examined access points, system layouts, and pre-incident planning factors. Additionally, standpipe operations, high-rise hose bundle deployment, and pressure coordination with engine companies were covered in the practical section of the training.

The department said the program is designed to help develop future fire service leaders through classroom education and field experience.
