CATTARAUGUS, NY — 4th May — Along with other fire departments nationwide, the Cattaraugus Volunteer Fire Department observed National Firefighters Day to recognize the service of both career and volunteer firefighters. Through emergency response, fire prevention, public education, and mutual aid operations, firefighters play a crucial role in safeguarding communities. Firefighters are routinely trained to handle medical crises, car crashes, structural fires, and prolonged incidents that call for interagency coordination.
According to department officials, National Firefighters Day also honors the dedication, cooperation, and preparedness required by the fire service on a daily basis. The honor served as a reminder of the commitment made by firefighters who, despite difficult circumstances, continue to safeguard their communities throughout the year.
