OLEAN, NY — 23rd April — Firefighters from the Allegany Fire Department participated in a joint nighttime training with the City of Olean Fire Department, which was centered on communications and rural water supply operations. Crews rehearsed radio coordination between command personnel and equipment, tanker shuttle operations, and drafting from static water sources. The purpose of the practice was to increase effectiveness in situations involving areas without hydrant coverage.

Firefighters were educated in water movement tactics and portable tank setups, which are frequently utilized in rural structure and brush fires throughout the region. Regular multi-agency training, according to officers, improves coordination between nearby departments and equips crews for mutual aid operations that call for many agencies to work together on disaster scenes.
