Mutual Aid Partners Train Together in Allegany

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

ALLEGANY, NY — 23rd April — A collaborative nighttime training on drawing operations, rural water supply, and fireground communications was held by the Allegany Fire Department. Together, firefighters from nearby departments received training on how to transfer water in places without hydrant systems and how to operate tanker shuttles. While command personnel organized radio communications between equipment and mutual aid partners, crews practiced drafting from portable water sources.

The purpose of the training was to enhance cooperation during protracted operations in rural areas and large-scale crises. Regular combined drills, according to department officers, increase efficiency on disaster scenes and foster stronger working ties between departments. Newer firefighters also had practical practice with rural firefighting techniques that are frequently employed in the area during the nighttime session.
