The Westport Fire Department announced on May 1st that Ned Lamont had named Fire Marshal Terrence B. Dunn Jr. to the Connecticut Commission on Fire Prevention and Control.

According to officials, Dunn will take over for Kevin J. Kowalski as the Connecticut Fire Marshals Association's representative on the commission. His tenure will expire on June 30, 2028. The commission assists in managing training requirements, fire safety programs, and statewide fire service policy.

First Selectman Kevin Christie stated that the appointment gives Westport representation in statewide fire service talks, while Fire Chief Nick Marsan commended Dunn's expertise and leadership.

The appointment, according to the department, demonstrates its ongoing dedication to community risk reduction initiatives, code enforcement, and fire prevention.
