Canton, CT - Canton Fire & EMS, along with Canton Police, responded to Windmill Lane for a reported sanitation truck fire. Upon arrival, crews discovered the fire involved the vehicle itself, with the driver advising that the truck was powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) and that the gas line was compromised.

With limited hydrant access in the area, a tanker from Barkhamsted East Fire Department was requested to support water supply operations, and DEEP was notified due to the nature of the incident.

Thanks to a rapid and coordinated response by career and volunteer personnel, crews quickly applied water, contained the fire, and prevented further complications.
