GREENFIELD, MA — May 5th — After completing their one-year probationary period, firemen Brian Dew, Matthew Gardner, and Avery Nye were recognized by the Greenfield, Massachusetts Fire Department. The firefighters were recruited using the same procedure, and they all graduated from Springfield's Massachusetts Firefighting Academy Recruit Class S42. Throughout their first year of duty, the members showed professionalism, teamwork, and dedication, according to department authorities.

The orange probationary shield used during probation was replaced by a permanent helmet leather shield bearing each firefighter's badge number as part of the milestone. Probation completion, according to department administrators, indicates good training, field experience, and preparedness for further service to the Greenfield community.
