As part of its member appreciation program, the Lanesborough Fire Department recently honored firefighter Matthew "Matt" McCormick.

Currently enrolled in the electrical department at Charles H. McCann Technical School in North Adams, McCormick was raised in Lanesborough. According to officials, he intends to graduate this year and enroll in Georgia's linemen school.

McCormick is a useful member who is enthusiastic about learning, appreciates giving back to the community, and enhances departmental teamwork and camaraderie, according to the department.
