Vertical Ventilation Training Advances with New Roof Prop

Newington, CT - Newington firefighters from Company 1 and Company 4 conducted hands-on vertical ventilation training utilizing the department’s newly acquired roof prop.


The prop provides a safe, controlled, and repeatable environment for crews to practice essential truck company operations, including cutting ventilation openings, sounding the roof, and operating on various roof pitches.


Additional training evolutions focused on tool deployment for vertical ventilation cuts and the use of truck brackets to assist with patient removal from roofs, windows, and other challenging locations.


These training efforts enhance operational readiness and ensure crews are prepared for complex fireground and rescue scenarios
