WENHAM, MA — April 15th — During National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, members of the Wenham Fire Department honored the efforts of emergency dispatchers who assist with everyday police, fire, and emergency medical services operations. The agency, which is located at 140 Main Street, stated that dispatchers are crucial in answering 911 calls, organizing emergency responses, monitoring units, and keeping lines of communication open between field staff and communications centers.
When there is a fire, a medical emergency, or a car accident, emergency telecommunicators are frequently the first people to be contacted. Every year, the United States observes National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week to honor dispatchers and communications professionals for their service and ongoing support of emergency responders and the communities they serve.
