BRANFORD, CT — April 27th — On Monday night, Branford Fire Department personnel practiced relay pumping, hydrant usage, and pump operations. Firefighters from Stony Creek Rescue Fire Company 5, M.P. Rice Hose Company 2, and Short Beach HH&L Company 4 participated in the training. Crews collaborated on water supply operations and equipment coordination—skills frequently utilized during prolonged events and larger structural fires.

In locations with restricted hydrant access, relay pumping operations were also used to enhance water transportation over longer distances. According to fire authorities, the multi-company training enhances preparedness for emergency responses in the town and neighboring mutual aid areas and strengthens collaboration among Branford's volunteer companies.
