Derby Fire Department Marks International Firefighters’ Day

DERBY, CT — May 4th — In observance of International Firefighters' Day, Derby Fire Department personnel joined those from agencies throughout Connecticut and the country. Every year on May 4th, people celebrate the efforts and commitment of professional and volunteer firefighters who help their communities, respond to crises, and educate the public.


The Derby Fire Department, which is based at 1 Elizabeth Street, continues to collaborate closely with other organizations through regional emergency operations and mutual aid responses. Throughout the year, fire officials acknowledged the work of firefighters who deal with medical emergencies, structural fires, training exercises, and fire safety initiatives. Worldwide, people celebrate International Firefighters' Day to honor the dedication and service rendered by the fire department.
