PEABODY, MA — April 28th — Firefighter Nick Mir received an impromptu retirement celebration from the Peabody Fire Department in honor of his 39 years of service. Members of the department came together to celebrate Mir and express gratitude for his years of commitment to community service, training, and emergency response. Officials observed that during the course of their long careers, seasoned firemen frequently assist in mentoring newer employees and supporting department operations.

Retirement parties continue to be a significant tradition in the fire service, providing units with a chance to honor personnel for their dedication and years of service in public safety. Retiring firefighters who have strengthened operations, collaboration, and emergency response efforts in their communities are still honored by fire departments throughout Massachusetts.
