HAMDEN, CT — April 13th — During National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, the Hamden Fire Department honored dispatchers at Hamden Central Communications. Department representatives expressed gratitude to communications personnel for their assistance in responding to emergency calls and supporting community-wide fire, police, and emergency medical services. Dispatchers are in charge of responding to both emergency and non-emergency calls, obtaining information from callers, and organizing resources for responding personnel.

They are based at the department headquarters on Whitney Avenue. According to officials, dispatchers are frequently the initial point of contact in emergency situations and are crucial in keeping agencies in contact with one another. The acknowledgement emphasized the consistent effort and expertise that communications staff members provide on a daily basis to support public safety operations.
